Excuse Me While I Take the Podium

The Jill Nye Mitts are finished! (Actually, I finished them almost a week ago, but you know, vacation catch-up.)

Thanks to Mom for serving as the hand model.

And now please rise for the playing of the Ravelympics International Anthem.

In other Ravelympics news... I have three of the five mitered squares finished and am about ready to pick up stitches to join two of them together.

The Tweedy Mitts aren't going so well. The Sandnes Garn Smart Superwash and I are doing some serious battle. I knit my gauge swatch on a size 7 needle and got 5 stitches to the inch, despite the fact that this is a DK weight yarn. I should have known something wasn't quite right at that point, but I ignored the little voice in the back of my head and cast on for the smallest size (I have little hands). With about 90% of the mitt finished, I realized that inserting my hand into the mitt would likely cause circulation problems. Rip it, rip it. I recast on for the medium size and finished the first mitt. Stuck my hand in... and while there are no circulation problems, the mitt is still too small. Look.

Yes, they are fingerless mitts, but I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to be knuckleless. And you most definitely should not be able to see the top of my palm.

Gauge swatches lie! I will have to recast on for the largest size. Hopefully I will be able to get two mitts out of the second ball of yarn and the remainder of the first so that I don't have to spend time frogging this one.

Less than a week left of the Ravelympics, and I'm still not half done. Yikes!

Found you through ravelry comment train. Fun knitting, and great photos (with your macro setting!). Congrats on your Ravelympics successes. (Me, too!)
