Giveaway

I am having a yarn giveaway. No occasion, other than I know that these are yarns I won't use and there's no sense in them sitting in the stash when another knitter could put them to good use.

Okay, for those of you who want an occasion... today is National Good Neighbor Day. There you go.

The loot includes:
  • Bernat Soft Bouclé in Westport Shades.
  • Lion Brand Homespun in Shaker.
  • Lion Brand Vanna's Choice in Olive.
  • Red Heart Super Saver in Carrot.
  • Partial skein of Bernat Denim Style in Canvas.
  • Partial skein of light blue worsted weight. I have no idea what this is, but it's really soft and has a little bit of a halo.
  • Partial skein of black DK weight. I also have no idea what this is.
If you are interested in the loot, write me a comment in which you tell me what you plan on doing with at least one of the yarns in the giveaway. I will use a random number generator to pick the winner after 12:00 P.M. EST on Saturday, October 4.

Way cool!

I do charity projects in almost everything. Soft yarns and/or girly colors, I make chemo caps for our local Head Huggers group. More manly colors in worsted weights, I make hats for The Ships Project. And I use Homespun for pet blankets for various rescue groups in our area.

Would love to turn any of your extra yarn into charity items.

I knit for Christmas at Sea - watch caps and scarves for merchant mariners. They particularly want "manly colors" and acrylic or machine-washable wool. That orange Red Heart looks like just the ticket!

I also knit for charity... squares for blankets mostly.

I have never tried some of these yarns and they sure look yummy.

One of the college students I work with wants to stat a knitting group to make scarves for under privileged kids in our area. All of the yarn would go towards that so we have some stash to work from.

I crochet for charity as well, and I'd use this yarn for scarves and hats for the homeless in my area..The Vanna's Choice would find a place in the afghan I'm starting for my dh for our anniversary-it is just the right color!

What a nice thing for you to do! I knit squares for afghans for the homeless and I knit smaller afghans for the animal shelters. Please include me in your contest.

I would use at least one of the skeins to make a hat for a needful schoolchild in Vermont this winter. I'm glad to see so many people who would use this yarn to do good!

I do charity knitting on a regular basis - this time of year I focus on winter hats for homeless and domestic violence shelters. Any/all of these yarns would be great for hats. Thanks for the giveaway! (on Ravelry I'm YarnTalksToMe)

Hello I make hats and scarfs for children of refuges here in Belgium where we are stationed. Most of these children have nothing because they leave their home land in the middle of the night just to get to safety. Its really sad to see such young children with no socks, hats, or scarfs in such cold weather as they have here. All of the yarn would be perfect for hats, and some thick socks. Thank you for doing this, its nice to see so many knitters that knit for charity!

Hi there! What an incredibly kind thing to do! I knit for many charities and the denim yarn would be great to knit into a hat for our local Head start program. I also knit items for a shelter for battered women, a home for troubled teens and my local church which supports missions worldwide. I am bpeatknits on Ravelry. Thanks for this opportunity! Becky

It's awesome to see so many people knitting for charity. Makes me feel kinda bad because I neither have the time nor skill to do any of that :(. So here's what I would do with one of the balls of yarn: improve my knitting skills. Maybe try something small and challenging? I could never get past the scarf phase, and I would love an opportunity to try new things out.

My name is Kassia and I knit for charity, I want to start a new project to make preemie items for the Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City. I wanted to donate blood for babies but I am ineligible. This may be a good thing to do to help them and their families. I hope you will consider me for your give-a-way although it sounds as if you have a lot of worthy recipients so it should go to great use no matter who gets it. Knit on!!!

Obviously, there are more fitting homes than my stash...but I would totally make pumpkin hats with the green and orange.

I do quite a bit of charity knitting. I knit caps and blankets for infants at our local hospital. I also knit chemo caps for the University hospital.

I am knitting hats for abused women at the shelter, helping them keep warm and building their confidence/self esteem to start on their own. Some women don't have anything except clothes on their back so I am helping those women/children keep warm in these cold winter months.
