Chapeaux Jumeaux

Baby hats a-plenty.

These are for two little cousins, Tavin and Dani, who decided to come out into the world two months early. The hats are still too big for them.

Tavin and Dani are working hard to grow strong enough to leave the hospital. They have a long road ahead. Thoughts and prayers are welcome.

I used this Random Stripe Generator at Biscuits & Jam to get the stripe pattern. Way cool tool.

Confetti Hats

Staff baby shower next Tuesday.

Stash yarn + easy peasy pattern + baby model = cute photos.

I wasn't sure about this yarn when I first started knitting with it. I thought the colorway was a bit ugly, but it grew on me as I knit. When I slapped the finished product on top of Small Child #3's head, it was a hit. The little flecks in the yarn remind me of confetti.

Built Tough Pants

This is Ford, and he is built tough.

And these are his new pants.

Working with Rowan Denim... ugh. It's not the cotton that bothers me, it's the dye coming off the yarn and onto the needles. Hopefully I'll be able to get the dye out of my bamboo circulars and DPNs. Note to self—knit Rowan Denim on metal needles.

I knit the legs on DPNs, and that was a big mistake. Ladders, ladders, here and there, ladders, ladders everywhere! I don't know why I can't manage to eliminate the ladders when I knit with DPNs. Another note to self—magic loop all sleeves and legs whenever possible.

I did do a nice job on the waistband, though, if I do say so myself.

Christmas Knitting in Review—Part Three

Needless to say, the hat I made for Small Child 3 turned out a tad too big. Just a tad.

Better too big than too small, I say. He can grow into it. See, he already has a hat for next winter. I'm ahead of the game on this one.

Small Child 3's modeling skills are a bit better than Small Child 2's modeling skills. I think it's due to the lack of controlled movement. You do have to be fast with the camera, though.

The yarn used is Berroco Comfort DK, which always knits up more like a sport weight rather than DK weight in my opinion. I still have a ton of this stuff left. What to do with it?
