Ravelympics—Days Seven through Nine

The games are half over, fellow knitters, Olympics spectators, and Ravelympians! This is cause for some serious reflection on my achievements thus far.

Of my six (yes, six, not five—I'll explain in a moment) projects...
2 are finished.
1 is 70% finished.
2 are 40% finished.
1 is not yet even on the needles.

Uh-oh. I've got to get cracking. Perhaps the gods will intercede and afford me a snow day tomorrow. We're supposed to get hit with 6-10 inches, but only about 3 inches of accumulation by the morning, so it's a bit iffy. But I could really use it to continue working on Baby Mania, Take Four, which is a little less than halfway done. I'm now working the left front.



The two WIPs, the Red Rivulets and Sparkling Mango socks, mainly sat untouched this week except for when I got them out to try to take a picture. The result:



The project not yet on the needles is the fingerless mitts I am going to make to match the Prepared for Ravelympics! hat that I made last weekend. I have found a pattern that I'm only going to have to slightly alter, so that's progress. Originally I thought I would be knitting them from scratch.

The plan is to work on the baby sweater today and finish it tomorrow, work on the socks throughout the week, and leave Saturday and Sunday to make the mitts. Is it doable? I think so.

As promised, fun and cheesy Michigan-related prizes were awarded to Team Michigan members yesterday.





I think my favorite is the cedar ornament in the shape of the Upper Peninsula. Very useful for hanging in a stash closet to keep evil yarn-chewing moths away. I also like the petoskey stone playing cards. You can never have too many decks of playing cards lying around, especially if you own a cottage Up North or on one of the lakes. Up North and lake weather can be tricky, so indoor activity items are necessary.

The grand prize was a Michigan dishcloth, hand knit by yours truly. This is my sixth Ravelympics project, which I didn't discuss during Opening Ceremonies because I wanted it to be a surprise. I'll tell you more about it and show you pictures when my medal is awarded.

There are 35 members of Team Michigan who have crossed the finish line. More prizes will be awarded at the end of the games to those who have finished at least one project, plus there will be a viewer's choice prize. Scooticus has been keeping himself busy by helping me keep track of the contenders.
