Plunge Pair #3

I finished my third Plunge pair almost a week ago, but I have been a very lazy blogger. Meet Hedera-esque, a mostly stockinette sock with a Hedera lace panel running up the outside of the foot.



As much as I'd love to claim it, this pattern modification isn't my idea. I queued it when I stumbled across Kazen's project on Ravelry, and the simplicity of it appealed to me. We're running knit-along each month in the Plunge group, and Hedera-esque was our July KAL. Some knitters played with the lace panel a bit more, making it meander instead of running a straight path down the sock, or making the panels diverge while also knitting intarsia. As you can see, I was not so adventurous.



I did, however, try out a new heel I had never knit before. This is the heel from the Show-off Stranded Socks, an all-in-one heel flap and gusset. Essentially, you knit the gusset while also knitting the heel flap and instep, continuing in the round until you get to the heel turn. It looks really nice and neat.

The socks are a little baggy, although I think it's more to do with the fact that I used a 2.25 mm needle over 64 stitches (rather than my standard 60 for a stockinette sock) than it is a problem with the heel. I will likely knit this heel again on a sock that overall fits better before I make a final decision about whether it's a good fit for my foot.
