Surgery

Sometimes you make a hat.  At first, it's just right, but then somehow, it's too small, and it doesn't cover little ears anymore.



Then you perform surgery.  Unweave the end.  Rip back.  Add length.  Reknit the decreases.  Close top.  Weave in the new end.  Wash.  Block.



And then it's just right again!

I'm all in favor of surgical strikes in our knitting projects that aren't quite right. I think it takes a bold person to snip, rip or whatever is required to make it work.
